Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR, TSX: SW) is a designer and manufacturer of wireless communications equipment, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. Sierra Products are sold through indirect channels such as wireless operators (eg AT & T Mobility and Verizon Wireless), resellers and OEMs.
On 6 March 2007, Sierra Wireless announced the purchase of Hayward, California, Airlink Communications, a private developer (and vendors) wireless data solutions, for $ 27 million in cash and stock.
On 5 August 2008, Sierra Wireless announced the purchase of Junxion, producers of Linux-based mobile wireless access points and network routers.
In October 2008, Sierra Wireless was named one of the largest employers in BC by Mediacorp Canada Inc., which was announced by the Vancouver Sun, Province and Victoria Times-colonist.
In December 2008, Sierra Wireless made a friendly cash tender offer to acquire Wavecom for $ 275 million.

The Voq Professional Phone is a tri-band Smartphone based on a 200 MHz processor Intel XScale PXA262 with stacked flash memory, runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 edition. Announced on 8 October 2003, the product combines a mobile phone, a personal messaging device, a PDA with distinctive features like the flip open QWERTY Thumbpad (including notebook line of family number 12).
Despite being awarded the British Columbia Technology Industries Association (BC TIA) "Excellence in Product Innovation Award" in 2004, entry into the competitive smartphone market eroded Sierra Wireless embedded module sales. On 7 July 2005, Sierra Wireless announced it would stop "Voq Professional Phone initiative.
